Family Definition
Aromatic Fragrance Family This family centres on fresh herbal notes such as thyme, rosemary, tarragon and mint. These green accents are often paired with citrus or gentle spices to create a scent that feels crisp, lively and energising.
Chypre Fragrance Family Chypre fragrances are known for a contrast between a fresh opening and a deeper, earthy base. They often combine bright citrus with patchouli, woods and mossy accords to create a refined and sophisticated style.
Citrus Fragrance Family Citrus fragrances highlight the bright character of fruits such as lemon, orange, bergamot, grapefruit and mandarin. In perfumery, these notes usually bring a clean, sparkling and uplifting effect, especially in the opening of a scent.
Floral Fragrance Family The floral family is one of the most recognisable categories in perfumery and is built around flower-inspired notes. A fragrance may focus on one bloom or a fuller bouquet, often supported by green, fruity, powdery or spicy facets.
Fougere Fragrance Family Derived from the French word for fern, fougere describes a fresh, green and aromatic fragrance style. It commonly features notes such as lavender, citrus, oakmoss and woods, and is often associated with classic masculine scents.
Leather Fragrance Family Leather fragrances are designed to suggest the rich, warm and smoky character of leather. They often include notes that feel dry, deep or textured, with hints of smoke, woods, tobacco, suede or honey.
Spice/Resinous Fragrance Family This family is known for its warmth, depth and sensuality. It often features spicy notes and resin-like accords that create a rich, enveloping effect, sometimes with touches that feel creamy, balsamic or softly sweet.
Woody Fragrance Family Woody fragrances are built around notes such as sandalwood, cedarwood and other warm or dry woods. They often feel smooth and grounding, and may be layered with florals, fruits, herbs or spices for added dimension.
